Leland Cherry Company introduces second pet product: HipFlex™ Chewable for Aging Canines

Leland, Mich. (Jan. 25, 2007) Leland Cherry Company has expanded its product offerings by introducing HipFlex™ Chewable for Aging Canines, developed by Overby Farm, which also created Hip Bones™ The Original Cherry Dog Treat™.

IT'S THE CHERRIES

Numerous scientists and researchers have confirmed that tart cherries contain many naturally occurring compounds that help maintain health. Overby Farm has worked closely with university experts and practicing veterinarians in capturing these healthy benefits for companion animals. Research at Michigan State University's Bioactive Natural Products and Phytoceuticals Laboratory identified the presence of compounds in tart cherries that promote healthy joint and cartilage function. These findings led to several patents and to Overby Farm's exclusive relationship with Michigan State University.

IT ALL BEGAN WITH HIP BONES™

In 2005, Michigan-based Overby Farm introduced Hip Bones™ The Original Cherry Dog Treat™, an all-natural baked treat for the active canine. The challenge was to figure out a way to pass on the health benefits of tart cherries to their own four-legged buddies. Overby Farm's owners started chopping, mixing and baking all-natural ingredients in their Leelanau County farm kitchen with their two Labs, Lucy and Abbey, as taste testers. And that's how Hip Bones™ The Original Cherry Dog Treat™ was born.

THE NATURAL NEXT STEP: HIPFLEX™ FOR THE AGING CANINE

Testimonials from customers about the positive effects of Hip Bones™ poured in, and it wasn't long before Overby Farm began to develop a stronger product that might serve as a natural alternative to pharmaceuticals.

The tart cherry and berry bioactives in the new chewable, HipFlex™, are three times the concentration by weight of that contained in Hip Bones™. The addition of glucosamine and flax seed oil to HipFlex™ further strengthen the formulation of this supplement.

HipFlex™ is packaged in a 9.5 ounce oxygen-barrier pouch, which contains about 60 pieces. Recommended serving is one chewable per day for every 25 pounds of the dog's body weight.
